Celebrating Independence!
BY AMANDA J. BROWN
When someone mentions the Fourth of July to me, I suddenly imagine large fireworks exploding in my head and children chasing after fireflies. There’s a tingling feeling I get as if I can smell delicious BBQ, taste sweet drinks and feel the warmth of summer’s air upon my skin. It triggers an instantaneous flash of grandiose memories flooding my senses.

However, I ultimately think of independence. After all, the Fourth of July symbolizes the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America. The Fourth of July means a lot more to me than it ever could have as a child – having served nine years in the active Army – three of which were spent in combat zones. The Fourth of July causes a great sense of pride to settle on my shoulders and I absolutely loved sharing that pride while photographing the Red White & Blue mini sessions.
The weekend of June 24th & 25th, we had our own celebration of independence during the mini sessions. Our client’s children showed us what it really means to be independent! We had a lot of fun! Sharing moments of laughter, dancing and silly faces.
Children offer such innocence and happiness. I am extremely proud to have defended the U.S. Constitution so that they may enjoy the same freedoms in the future as we have since the dawn of our country.
Thank you to everyone who joined me during the Red White & Blue mini sessions this year. Let freedom ring! Happy Fourth of July!
