About John Jordan

John Jordan is a husband, father, entrepreneur and photographer. He is a self-described perfectionist who enjoys spending time with his family. John is the type of man who works diligently on every task he sets out to accomplish. In today’s blog, we’ll take a trip into his world – affording you the opportunity to learn more about your photographer.
This joke-loving man began his life in a town boasting less than 1,000 in population – Claflin, Kansas – growing up on a large farm. Having been a very ambitious person, he earned the prestigious title of Eagle Scout before graduating high school.
It was in high school that John found interest in photography.
“I joined the high school yearbook [as a photographer] to get out of class,” John said, while laughing. “Who knew I would fall in love with it?”
After graduating high school John moved forward to attend college at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO as a Psychology major. When he wasn’t studying for class his freshman year, his time was dedicated to playing football as a linebacker.
“After [freshman year] football season was over in college…I decided to ask the newspaper [if I could be a photographer.] They said they couldn’t pay me, but I told them, ‘I don’t care as long as you pay for the film.’”
This is where John fostered his love for sports photography.
“I like[d] being able to make people look like super stars or like they belong in a Sports Illustrated magazine…I photographed basketball, track and baseball – so basically most sports…I [also] did general campus events coverage. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work.”
Being a highly motivated young man, he began his entrepreneurship in his college dorm room.
“I noticed the school didn’t have a budget. [They] would only pay one roll of film per sporting event. So I saw an opportunity for photographing additional rolls of film and selling the prints to the parents – while allowing the yearbook to use all the images from the photographers for their publications.”
The rest is, as they say, history. He began his business in August 1997 and hasn’t looked back.
