  • Bring a variety of outfits, including casual and formal apparel.
  • Avoid clothing colors that match you skin tone, as well as pale yellow or green.
  • If your session includes outside portraits, do not wear glasses that darken in sunlight.
  • Please no clothing with stripes.
  • Avoid shirts that are sleeveless/strapless/tank tops, have stripes or have words and pictures (they may get partially cropped in the photograph).
  • Long sleeves, turtlenecks and V-necks are the most flattering in a photograph.
  • You may bring props, but please check with the photographer prior to you session.
  • Choose clothing in your style and that you are comfortable in.
  • Limit sun exposure prior to your session.

Shave close to your appointment, and cut your hair at least one week before your session.

: Bring hair and make-up brushes for touchups, and wear your make-up slightly heavier than usual. Take care in choosing your undergarments so that they do not show through your clothing.

Family Portraits

  • Casual outfits in earth tones work best for outdoor photographs.
  • Long sleeves and pants photograph the best.
  • Pay special care that socks, stockings and shoes are in keeping with the visual intent of your photograph.
  • Keep outfits simple.
  • We recommend families to dress the same (see our family portrait section for examples).

Feel free to discuss any questions, concerns or ideas you have in advance of your appointment.
